Dog or God?

While my son was watching the LOST pilot again last night - he said did you ever notice that Vincent the dog shows up at really intersting times and it seems to bring the people a sense of calm (like Jack last night - he wakes up and he's in total panic until he sees the dog and he calms down and starts accessing what happend) and Sun in the garden a few episodes ago when she heard a noise and was scared and it ended up being Vincent so she relaxed (of course she did go on to get dragged through the jungle and hit by Charlie right after that). My son said do you think that's another hidden meaning in the show (dog-God). I think it could have meaning for the show and really what other purpose does Vincent really serve on the show? I liked the Owl Creek post - very interesting to think about.

An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge

I am not sure which episode I saw this on and it may have no real significance, but I found it interesting so I will share it. Somewhere along the line someone had a pulled a book off a shelf called An Occurrence At Owl Creek Bridge. I found a great web site on this:

http://www.owlcreekproductions.com/ocv5.html

The basic jist of the story is that a man is about to be hung and in the moment just before he dies he supposedly escapes and the story is about his efforts to get back home to his wife. However, just as he reaches home and is about to embrace his wife is when his neck snaps in the noose and he dies. The escape and journey home were all images in his head in the last seconds of his life. Interestingly enough, his wife's name is Libbie, which is also the name of one of the characters in Lost.

Like I said, it may have no significance, but I found it interesting enough to share.

Gilgamesh

In Episode #32, Collision (a.k.a. Old Habits), Locke is working on a crossword puzzle. The answer he puts into 42 Down is Gilgamesh. The story of Gilgamesh was orignally written on 12 tablets. The translation of each of those tablets tells the story of Gilgamesh. While I have not yet finished reading all 12 tablets, there are many similarities between the story and Lost that I have come across in the tablets I have read so far. Full text of the tablets can be found and read on either of these websites:

The word fate is used quite a bit in throughout the story. The town is Uruk is in Iraq and may even be where the name Iraq originated from. Sayid was an Iraqi soldier. The Euprhates River plays a significant part in the story and in last weeks episode Sayid was given busfare to Ramadi, which is a town in Iraq located right on the banks of the Euphrates river. The story even mentions about keeping boys from their fathers, much like Walt and Michael.

One of Them - Air Date 2/15/2006

Some interesting details come out of this one. The army guy on the truck was actually Kate’s dad when viewed on the good ol DVR I paused on the picture that he was holding and it was a picture of a young Kate. Also on this one the very interesting numbers after they go past 000.00 they turned in to some type of hieroglyphics or symbols.

Trying to figure out the symbols. My take on the symbols are from left to right. The first one appears to be the letter “S” at least if you are looking at the Egyptian type. The second digit was blank. The third digit symbol I have not found yet. The fourth in the Egyptian hieroglyphics is the letter “A”. The fifth digit I have not found yet.

Egyptian hieroglyphics are normally read from right to left, but I have found some websites that state they can also be from right to left. If someone can clarify this that would be great.

Maybe these are not Egyptian hieroglyphics, could they be Sumerian? Lisa brings up some very interesting facts and thoughts. I hope she will be posting them soon.
